News as of 2020:
Update on our 50th class reunion scheduled for August 2020. We have postponed it until 2021. Please mark your calendar for August 28, 2021. The Planning Committee will be sending out updates in early 2021. We were disappointed to postpone, but because of the Covid Virus, we decided it is the right thing to do.

We have a lot of classmates with who we haven't been able to contact. Please have them contact us on our Facebook Group or add a way to contact you for your information as a Comment to this Post.

I would like to thank Melody, Nancy Z, Nancy Teer, and Betsy R. for all the work they did in preparing for the reunion. Also, thanks to June Watts for all the fabulous food she made for our meetings! Also, thanks to Steve H, who attended meetings and secured Swiss Park for us!

Sometimes price points can be important. We were able to arrive at a very low ticket price of $25.00 by a number of means. It does not mean the Committee is skimping on the rest of the Reunion. From collections/donations at our other events we had the funds to pay for the Hall and other immediate needs.
========================================================

========================================================
6) Photos:  Wish to post or review some of our many Photos, Videos, Images and whatnot, click on the Photos Link, to the left of the 'Search" Box link above. There are 5 albums and one 'category' of "Photos Videos" Facebook automatically created when it changed the Group Settings several years ago.  Or someone could setup a Photo/Image Account at one of many sites that do that.  Suggest coordinating that with Mike Saunders.
========================================================
7) Dress is casual.
=======================================================
8) Now for the Entertainment:
8a) Listen to the fabulous Chaotics play a few sets of their best tunes.
8b) "And a message from our DJ and MC for the evening, John Smiley Garrett:

9) Door Prizes:  Also, I've got five or six items that I am donating to use as 'door prizes'. If someone else has something you want to donate, post information regarding it in this string...and when I make the announcement, you'll get credit.
And you're going to LOVE what we're using as door prize 'tickets'."

Response to Oh! Calcutta was been underwhelming. So to spice things up, The Musical "Hair" has been put forth instead. It has much going for it. Hair, clothes, flash mobs and more. Concerned that your hair will hold you back? Don't be. For the follically challenged, they can do a lot with hair extensions and hats these days. Check out secretextensions.com/ .   C'mon, relive your ute. Or use whatever hair you have it does not matter. There will be a marvelous Door Prize for the best dressed for this portion of the evenings' entertainment. j/k
Dress is casual. Though a change has come up in the comments to this post, to quote: John, are we now adding togas as acceptable dress?

How long has this been going on ........

Some news of importance - some of us have had small informal gatherings when members of our class that are in Bands have played different venues in the Seattle/Tacoma/Sumner area.  Gary Montgomery in "Tatoosh" and Dave Teitzel in the "Curtis Hammond Band" to name a couple.  To be a part of these gatherings check out their respect sites, especially Facebook.

An opportunity is coming up this Friday, June 10th,  8:00pm - 11:30pm.   Highway 99 Blues Club, 1414 Alaskan Way Seattle, WA 9810, (206) 382-2171.  Some are shooting to be there before 7:00pm for the first band and the Happy Hour that ends at 7pm.

Their respective Websites:  http://www.curtishammondband.com/ and
http://www.tatoosh-band.com/  where much information about them can be found as well as their schedules.

They have Facebook Pages [you can, but do not need to log on to view], where you may interact if you "Like" them so you may keep up with their various appearances in the area.
If anyone is stumbling across this Blog it is still active, though nothing is planned at this time class wise.  But you may never know, so check back occasionally or check out our Group Page on Facebook.  A link can be found to the right.

We will see you around!

Informal Gathering Results of December 26th

It was great to see so many at Farrelli's Pizza in Sumner for out Informal Gathering last Sunday the 26th!

June (Wilkinson) Sahlberg "pulled" the trigger to start this event and I would say we had over 35 attend the event throughout the afternoon and evening. Plus we had many from out of state that were visiting for the Holidays.  So Kudos go to her!

SHS 1970 - Informal 2010 Winter Gathering

Good Day All,

A number of Alumni did not get enough at the Reunion and some were unable to attend, so an informal get together has been set:

Date:  Sunday, December 26 · 4:00pm - 9:00pm

Location:  Farrelli's Pizza
               15007 Main St E
               Sumner, WA
               http://www.farrellispizza.com/

This is an Informal meeting for those who did not have enough at the Reunion and those out of towners that were unable to make the Reunion

Yep, it is the day after Christmas, but by now the kids and grandkids should be playing with their toys, the adults are probably getting ripe, and you deserve a break.

More good times, a chance to catch up and more.  Check out the event of the Facebook Page and who is coming so far  - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=126436810720766&v=app_2344061033#!/event.php?eid=184350598247580&index=1

We have over 25+ that have indicated they can come.  If you are able to make it and have not so indicated on Facebook, please e-mail [sumnerhigh1970@yahoo.com or see info below], so we may give Farrelli's a head count.

Questions?

Results of our 40th Reunion!

Hi all,

We had almost 100 in attendance for the 40th Reunion. Many friendships were rekindled and are continuing on Facebook.

It was a great event with Tatoosh playing and a special appearance by "The Chaotics".

Our "Special Mystery Guest" was Teacher Ron Malnar, who continued with his PMA.

Our pre-event at Farrelli's Pizza in Sumner, was well attended and jam packed.

Many have expressed interest in having informal gatherings more often. The information is still there and all it will take is for someone to take the reins.

Want to take a look at some of Dave Burn's Video and find the links to Facebook and other sites? Find them on this Blog and on Facebook.  Look for the links to the right.

See you next time!

Less than 24 hours to the PreReunion and 48 hours to the Reunion

Any last minute questions check the links to the right, for maps, lodging information, the Evening's Program and more.

Hi Everybody,

The arrangements for the reunion have all been finalized.  We will have 95 people attending the reunion; 67 classmates and 28 guests including our mystery guest.

Our Master of Ceremonies, Dave Teitzel, has prepared a terrific entertainment program that will include our own John ‘Smiley’ Garrett as DJ who will be playing your favorite hits from our high school years, a special video presentation, the bands Tatoosh and the Chaotics, the Spartan Feud trivia game, and a presentation by our mystery guest.

Carla Sawyer, Linda Hayford Lind, and Debbie Rushton have done a terrific job of arranging our buffet and beverage services.  We will also have a hosted bar and bartender.

Special thanks to Dave Burns, Marc Aasland, and John Garrett for the outstanding job they did in finding lost classmates, promoting the event online on Facebook, Classmates, and a special SHS Reunion Blog, and we can’t thank them enough for the hundreds of hours they spent creating videos and scanning pictures that take us back to our high school years.

And finally, our thanks to others who served on committees and gave their time and resources to make this a special event for all of us; Gary Montgomery, Pam Moody Stovel, Donna McConaughy Murphy, Chuck Guerrini, Correen Orton, Betsy Rioux Eiford, Nancy Hinckley Russell, and Nancy Teer Wolever.

We hope our 40th reunion is a very special and memorable event for everyone.  We look forward to seeing you this Saturday night!

Let's Party!!!

Steve Clark for your Planning Committee
