A number of Alumni did not get enough at the Reunion and some were unable to attend, so an informal get together has been set:

Yep, it is the day after Christmas, but by now the kids and grandkids should be playing with their toys, the adults are probably getting ripe, and you deserve a break.

Results of our 40th Reunion!

Hi all,

We had almost 100 in attendance for the 40th Reunion. Many friendships were rekindled and are continuing on Facebook.

It was a great event with Tatoosh playing and a special appearance by "The Chaotics".

Our "Special Mystery Guest" was Teacher Ron Malnar, who continued with his PMA.

Our pre-event at Farrelli's Pizza in Sumner, was well attended and jam packed.

Many have expressed interest in having informal gatherings more often. The information is still there and all it will take is for someone to take the reins.

Less than 24 hours to the PreReunion and 48 hours to the Reunion

Hi Everybody,

The arrangements for the reunion have all been finalized.  We will have 95 people attending the reunion; 67 classmates and 28 guests including our mystery guest. 

Our Master of Ceremonies, Dave Teitzel, has prepared a terrific entertainment program that will include our own John ‘Smiley’ Garrett as DJ who will be playing your favorite hits from our high school years, a special video presentation, the bands Tatoosh and the Chaotics, the Spartan Feud trivia game, and a presentation by our mystery guest. 

Carla Sawyer, Linda Hayford Lind, and Debbie Rushton have done a terrific job of arranging our buffet and beverage services.  We will also have a hosted bar and bartender.

Special thanks to Dave Burns, Marc Aasland, and John Garrett for the outstanding job they did in finding lost classmates, promoting the event online on Facebook, Classmates, and a special SHS Reunion Blog, and we can’t thank them enough for the hundreds of hours they spent creating videos and scanning pictures that take us back to our high school years.

And finally, our thanks to others who served on committees and gave their time and resources to make this a special event for all of us; Gary Montgomery, Pam Moody Stovel, Donna McConaughy Murphy, Chuck Guerrini, Correen Orton, Betsy Rioux Eiford, Nancy Hinckley Russell, and Nancy Teer Wolever.  

We hope our 40^th reunion is a very special and memorable event for everyone.  We look forward to seeing you this Saturday night!

SHS 40th Reunion Event Details or Where to send your Money!

The Sumner Senior High Class of 1970 will hold their 40th Reunion at The Tacoma Mountaineers, Saturday, September 18, 2010 beginning at 6:00pm - 11:00pm.

The Event will feature a heavy appetizer/light meal. [menu is being finalized as of 7/6/10]

Also on the evenings menu is the band Tatoosh, and our own John 'Smiley' Garrett as our DJ.
[There is a rumor that The Chaotics may make a 'Special' Appearance.]
Our M.C. for the Evening will be Dave Teitzel .

Admission:

$65 Per Person Without Alcoholic Beverages

$75 Per Person With Alcoholic Beverages

Note: "No At the Door Ticket Sales"

40th Reunion News

The final details are being worked on and will be published soon.  The Caterer and Admission Price has yet to be finalized, but it is expected to be completed by June 16, 2010.

Committee has set the date for the evening of Saturday, September 18, 2010 and will take place at the Tacoma Mountaineers in Old Town Tacoma.

Sumner High - 40th Renuion Planning Status

Please start to get the word out, the 40th year Reunion is in the active planning stages. Let others know and give us any contact information. We plan to do as much online as possible but would also like physical addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, hints as to last known location, etc. Anything that can help us network, is appreciated.

The success of this venture is due in part to you! If you have any information about past Reunions, Photos, Mementos or ? pass those on to - sumnerhigh1970@yahoo.com or via one of the Committee members.

A Planning Committee has been formed and has had several online meetings. We are exploring Venues, Dates, Food Vendors, Lodging and so on. Most likely the date will be in September 2010.

Current members of the Committee are Steve Clark, Dave Burns, Marc Aasland, Gary Montgomery, Linda Hayford Lind, Nancy Teer Wolever, Donna Murphy, Debbie Rushton, Carla Sawyer and "you" [if you so desire].
